Flexi Proof EPDM rubber can be used on low pitched roofs. Our installers are experts in bonding the rubber membrane on low pitched roofs. We have successfully installed many EPDM rubber roofs onto pitched roofs.

Although fibreglass roofs are superior and much more resistant to heat, moisture, water and fire than alternative flat roofing materials meaning that they need much less maintenance as a result, they still require a level of maintenance and cleaning occasionally.

Because an EPDM rubber roof is made from rubber, the material cannot be affected by the sun’s UV rays as well as standard weather conditions such as snow, rain and wind. If maintained properly a rubber roof can last in excess of 50 years.

GRP/Fibreglass is a newer roofing system that lends itself best to flat roofing but is also suitable for pitched roofs in some applications. Fibreglass is more durable than felt and stronger too. A fibreglass roof will last for more than 20 years and it’s less likely than felt to develop a fault.

Initially yes, however, the long-term benefits will be obvious as it will outperform the felt roof – you won’t have to worry about replacing it again for a very long time.

Felt roofing is largely made up of modified bitumen combined with either fibreglass or polyester. Felt roofing often consists of several different layers of material that form together and are sealed at the edges, resulting in a tight and durable bond between your property and the outside elements.

There are several methods of applying a felt roof to a building, but the more common technique in modern times is to use a blowtorch to partially melt one side of the felt until it is sticky. This side is then stuck down.

A professionally laid GRP fibreglass roof will last for at least 30 years with no measurable deterioration.
